THE DOUBLE ROTI PROJECT
At Double roti we channelize the surplus food from bakeries supported by our logistics team- sponsored by TLC to various schools and orphanages who gladly welcome the mid morning or mid evening snack ..Our mission is to create an organised distributing network between the bakery and the end consumer in a safe , hygienic and fair manner thereby minimizing the wastage of food and yet providing an extra bite of food to those in need.
why we exists
Hunger is often not a food problem; it’s a logistics problem.About 21 million tonnes of wheat are wasted in India and 50% of all food across the world meets the same fate and never reaches the needy. In fact, according to the agriculture ministry, Rs. 50,000 crore worth of food produced is wasted every year in the country. I believe that even if we make a small contribution by capturing the surplus food from bakeries it could help save a couple of lives and maybe nourish a few more making them lead a healthier life. That is why DoubleRoti exists.
With 194,000,000 people undernourished,
India tops the Hunger List globally

Interview with Life beyond Numbers
It is not surprising to see students focussing all their attention on grades and performances, especially when they are appearing for the boards. Amidst all, real-life learning takes a back seat. But not all are cut from the same cloth and some do take charge of what’s happening around them with a hope to establish a better version of the society. In a candid conversation with LifeBeyondNumbers, the founder of Project Double Roti, Taira Bhargava says, “If you are willing to do something for the society, it has to come from within. Everyone should do their bit to ensure no one goes hungry in a country where there is surplus food production.”
